Shaderism

Algorithmic artist and creative developer, who uses web technologies to create real-time artwork, often incorporating aspects of audiovisuality, interactivity, and physics simulations, while exploring the themes of playfulness and self-reflection.

With a background in visual effects and 3D graphics programming, Arttu Koskela, also known as Shaderism, has been working with algorithmic graphics for the past decade.

After graduating with honors in Visual Effects at the University of Hertfordshire, he began a career as a 3D artist focusing on simulations, creating adverts for companies such as Heineken, IKEA, McLaren, and Turkish Airlines. He then pivoted to real-time 3D graphics and web development for some years and got more familiar with the technicalities of graphics programming, while creating graphical tools for different industries.

Having perfected his technical skills and unexpectedly stumbling into generative art, followed by a chain of significant life events, he suddenly felt like he had a lot to express as an artist himself. He began creating long-form algorithmic artworks for fx(hash) and ArtBlocks Curated, and has been working as a full-time algorithmic artist ever since.
